Overview
Originally built in 1956 by Abelardo Rodriguez (the son of the Mexican President) as a 15-room hideaway accessible only by yacht or private plane, Palmilla was the first luxury resort in Los Cabos. The architecture is a pure expression of "Spanish Colonial Hacienda" style, featuring white-washed walls, red-tile roofs, and a historic chapel that sits at the resort's highest point. Even after major expansions, the property has maintained its residential, Old-Mexico soul. It serves as a historic gatekeeper to the Sea of Cortez, where the lush, palm-fringed gardens contrast sharply with the surrounding Baja desert landscape.
