Overview

Since its inauguration in 1925 on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Le Bristol has remained one of the few independently-spirited palaces in Paris. Named after the traveler Frederick Hervey, 4th Earl of Bristol, the hotel became a sanctuary during WWII as the residence for the American Embassy. It is defined by its rare sprawling inner garden—a literal green lung in the center of the city—and its 18th-century "Louis Seize" furniture. Its history is inseparable from the Oetker family, who have maintained it as a bastion of French "art de vivre" for generations.

Why We Recommend

The Bristol doesn’t just sit on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré; it anchors it. We recommend it for being the most soulful of the Parisian Palaces—where 18th-century grandeur feels like a family home, complete with the resident cat, Socrate, and a three-Michelin-starred garden sanctuary that remains the ultimate temple of French gastronomy.
