Overview
Housed in the historic Crown Building at the corner of 5th Avenue and 57th Street, Aman New York is a radical reinterpretation of the urban hotel. The 1921 Beaux-Arts building, designed by Warren & Wetmore (the architects of Grand Central Terminal), was once the first home of the Museum of Modern Art. Architect Jean-Michel Gathy transformed the interior into a minimalist Zen sanctuary, featuring a double-height lobby and a three-story spa. It is the first property of its kind to bring the secluded, residential philosophy of a remote Aman resort into the vertical, high-intensity environment of Midtown Manhattan.
