Overview
Formerly the historic Saxony Hotel (built in 1947), this property was reimagined in 2015 by Argentine developer Alan Faena as the centerpiece of his namesake art district. The hotel is a theatrical masterpiece of "Cinematic Art Deco," designed in collaboration with film director Baz Luhrmann and costume designer Catherine Martin. The architecture is defined by its vibrant red and gold palette, grand "cathedral" entrance with floor-to-ceiling gold leaf murals, and an extraordinary collection of contemporary art. It represents a bold departure from the typical minimalist "all-white" South Beach aesthetic, celebrating the drama and opulence of mid-century Miami.
