Overview

Commissioned in the early 1960s by the Aga Khan as part of the development of the Costa Smeralda, Hotel Cala di Volpe was designed by Jacques Couëlle to look like a traditional Sardinian fishing village. With its organic, hand-sculpted shapes, pastel colors, and terracotta floors, the hotel is a landmark of "organic architecture." It was built to blend seamlessly into the rugged, granite coastline of the Emerald Coast. Famously featured in the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me, the hotel has maintained its status as the social epicenter of the Mediterranean elite, representing a specific, rustic-chic luxury that celebrates the raw beauty of Sardinia.
