Overview

Housed within the 16th-century Palazzo Papadopoli, Aman Venice is a rare example of a Venetian "living palace." Built by the architect Gian Giacomo de' Grigi and later transformed in the 19th century by the Michelangelo Guggenheim, the palazzo features original frescoes by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo and intricate gilded carvings. Unlike the heavy, cluttered luxury found elsewhere in the city, the hotel’s design (overseen by Jean-Michel Gathy) respects the monumental history of the building while introducing a minimalist, contemporary calm. It is one of the few properties on the Grand Canal to feature two private hidden gardens, offering a level of aristocratic seclusion that is nearly extinct in Venice.
